What is the ketogenic (keto) diet?

The ketogenic (keto) diet is a type of diet that enables you to lose weight at the expense of fat. However, more and more types of ketogenic diets are now emerging: low-fat, very low-fat, high-fat…

The only one with scientific studies to support its efficacy and safety in weight loss is the very low-fat ketogenic diet combined with physical activity and medical supervision, such as the one used in the PnK Method.

What is ketosis?

Our ketogenic diet provides the recommended amount of protein and is low in carbohydrates and fats. In this way, the body uses its accumulated fat reserves as an energy source.

This process is known as ketosis and is a type of metabolism that our body carries out naturally when carbohydrate intake is low.

Providing appropriate protein intake

The body uses its fat stores and doesn’t lose muscle

Proven Efficacy

Our ketogenic diet has shown that you can lose up to 9kg in 1 month and that 95% of the weight lost corresponds to fat. We can therefore say that it achieves quality weight loss, which makes it easier to maintain a healthy weight in the long term.

Under Medical Supervision

In our programme, the patient goes into ketosis in the first stage of treatment, always under medical supervision. This is combined with physical activity and achieves weight loss at the expense of fat.

Appropriate Protein Intake

Unlike other ketogenic diets, ours reduces the intake of fats and sugars but maintains the recommended protein intake to support normal body functions and ensure weight loss occurs due to a loss of fat rather than muscle.

The Body Uses The Accumulated Fat

Because of the low carbohydrate intake, the body has to use its accumulated fat reserves as fuel. This process, called ketosis, results in the formation of the so-called ketone bodies, which are used as the main source of energy and also produce a psycho-stimulant effect, generating a sense of well-being and vitality.
